According to reports, the T20 World Cup 2026 is set to begin in February and continue through March. Most of the matches will be hosted in India, while some fixtures will also take place in Sri Lanka.
One of the most anticipated matches, Pakistan vs India, will not be played in India but in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The encounter will not be held in Ahmedabad or Mumbai. This arrangement follows a hybrid model approach initiated by the BCCI, similar to what we saw in previous tournaments.

As for the exact start date, reports suggest the event could begin on February 7, with the opening match possibly featuring India vs the Netherlands at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, there are also discussions that the opening match might take place in Colombo, featuring India vs Pakistan.
Nothing has been finalized yet, but there is a high chance that the tournament will open in Ahmedabad with India facing the Netherlands.
Teams will be divided into different groups, and early indications suggest India and Pakistan might be placed in the same group.
Looking at the current form, Team India is expected to perform exceptionally well, given their recent dominance in T20 cricket and the depth of talent they possess. Australia and England are also strong contenders, delivering consistent performances in recent tournaments.
As for Pakistan, the team currently doesn’t look very promising, and expectations from them remain low.
