Bangladesh Refused To Travel To India For T20 WORLD CUP
A major controversy has emerged ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup as sources from the Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed that Bangladesh will not travel to India, but will also not withdraw from the tournament.
According to BCB sources, Bangladesh has formally demanded that its matches be shifted from India to Sri Lanka due to growing political tensions and security concerns. The board has made it clear that while it remains committed to participating in the World Cup, it is unwilling to play matches on Indian soil under the current circumstances.

The situation escalated after Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman was dropped by Kolkata Knight Riders following the IPL auction. The incident reportedly triggered strong concern within the BCB, which held an emergency late-night meeting attended by all board directors.
Initially, the board considered writing to the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the International Cricket Council to seek clarification on security arrangements. However, the board later decided to directly demand a venue shift to Sri Lanka instead of playing in India.
Under the existing schedule, Bangladesh is due to arrive in Kolkata in early February, with matches set for February 7, 9 and 14. BCB officials said they are not confident that the current political climate can guarantee the safety of the full squad, especially after a contracted player was dropped and allegedly not provided adequate security in the IPL.
The BCB has now formally written to the ICC requesting the venue change. In response, the BCCI has stated that with less than a month remaining before the tournament, shifting venues is not feasible and decisions cannot be made based on individual board demands.
So far, the ICC has not issued an official response, and the situation remains unresolved as tensions continue to rise ahead of the T20 World Cup.
